Granite Lacroix, a predestined name!

The name of Granite Lacroix is known throughout the province.  Since it’s beginning, between 50,000 and 60,000 Lacroix's monuments have been engraved and delivered in Quebec’s cemeteries.

Granite Lacroix was founded in 1952 by Mr. Albani Lacroix at the family residence. He started as a stone cutter at Lac Megantic until the early fifties when he came to establish himself in Laval and decided to build tombstones. He, modestly, started cutting stone and granite in the back of his store. At that time, it was tack cutting manually with the hammer and tack. He would produce around a hundred monuments a year.

He transmitted his savoir-faire and talent to his son Gilles who, since the age of 18 had a key position in the business with other members of the family.

At the death of the founder in 1983, Mr. Gilles Lacroix took over as the head of the family business.
