Having worked as a stone cutter in Lac-Drolet near Lac-Mégantic, he moved to Laval with his family in the early 1950s where he modestly began cutting stone and making monuments in the backyard of the family residence. At that time, everything was done by hand and a hundred monuments were made each year.

He passed on his talent, his know-how and his passion to his son Gilles who, from the age of 18, occupied a prominent place in the company surrounded by other family members.

Upon the death of the founder in 1983, Mr. Gilles Lacroix took over as head of the family business.

It is on solid foundations that in 2018 the new owners, Patrice Trudel and Léna Sauvageau, took over the business. Building on its past existence, Granite Lacroix is already benefiting from this new leadership, while all employees and suppliers have renewed their trust and commitment.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ text_font=”||||||||” header_font=”||||||||” header_text_align=”center” background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”left”]

What motivates the Lacroix family?

The Granite Lacroix team is passionate about granite and about creating unique monuments.

Over the years, the family business has added numerous specialized artisans to its ranks in terms of stone cutting, polishing, and engraving.

In 1975, the company acquired a sawing and polishing workshop located in Iberville (now St-Jean-sur-Richelieu). This workshop allows the cutting and polishing of the slabs that will be produced from the granite blocks that the company buys on the domestic and international markets

To meet the demand and ensure its growth, the company proceeds, on several occasions over the years, to the expansion and the addition of specialized equipment to its Laval workshop as well as to the expansion of its offices and showroom.

For 70 years now, the artisans of Granite Lacroix have been applying their know-how to creating unique funerary monuments and commemorative stones that meet the most demanding expectations of a diverse clientele.

Today, more than twenty employees work for the company, which sells, manufactures, and installs more than 1,000 monuments a year. Many other collaborators join the company from spring to fall to offer engraving and cleaning services in cemeteries. The company operates mainly in the markets of Montreal, the North Shore of Montreal, the Lower Laurentians, Lanaudiere and Monteregie.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.26.3″ text_font=”||||||||” header_font=”||||||||” header_text_align=”center” background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”left”]

What is Granite Lacroix’s secret?

It lies in the ability to transform a simple monument into a work of art.
