What is a gravestone?
A gravestone is a stone monument on which the name of the deceased, the date of birth, and the year of death are inscribed and a personal message, a quotation, or a prayer, called an epitaph. It has been used for a long time in the Christian religion and the Jewish, Muslim, Chinese, Buddhist, and other traditions.
Although it is normally composed of different pieces, many people also use the term “tombstone” to refer to the single memorial stele resting on a base fixed to the ground on a concrete foundation. In a more compact format, this type of headstone is the most common type of grave marker in cemeteries.
How do I choose a headstone?
Before choosing a particular model, you should check with the cemetery you are interested in to find out about the rules and restrictions imposed. Some cemeteries only accept certain types of graves for aesthetic reasons to create a certain site homogeneity.
You should also be aware that the cemetery installs the foundation on which the headstone rests. In this respect, we advise you to find out the price of the rental and maintenance of the plot; from one cemetery to another, you may notice significant differences. If you wish, we can direct you to cemeteries that meet your needs.
How do I clean a headstone?
Although granite is an ultra-resistant material, weather, dust, and pollution will soil the headstone over time. To maintain the elegance of the granite and to eliminate moss that may eventually grow on it, we recommend cleaning the stone with a nylon brush and water, to which you add a little dishwashing liquid.
